Training Master Trainers to deliver nutrition sessions at community level

The primary objectives of the consultancy are as follows:

  1. Promote Nutrition Education among communities by training MTs on key nutrition topics on screening using MUAC (Mid-Upper Arm Circumference), referrals, follow-ups, behavior change communication, hygiene promotion, and the role of caregivers in child nutrition.
  2. Enhance the capacities of CSOs activities, volunteers, caregivers and communities in child nutrition and providing them with the necessary knowledge can lead to better nutritional outcomes for children, reducing malnutrition rates.
  3. Strengthened the Health Systems through the Integration MT with Health Systems for the effective utilization of their knowledge, skills and expertise for any training opportunities and community interventions. 

Scope of Work:

The workshop is designed to develop and train 30 Master Trainers (MTs) to deliver nutrition sessions at the community level. This initiative aims to enhance community nutrition knowledge through improved education, localized training materials, and skill development of local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). The program promotes sustainable training models and behavior change communication to improve child nutrition and hygiene practices. Integration with health systems, official endorsements, and continuous improvement through refresher courses and monitoring ensure the trainers remain effective. Engaging local volunteers and influencers in orientation sessions fosters community ownership, the workshops also aim to significantly impacting community health and nutrition awareness

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Develop clear outlines for topics, modules, and learning objectives, process, methodology in alignment with training objectives in local language (preferably Sindhi)
  2.  Develop comprehensive training manuals and segmentation on: key nutrition related topics such as (1) screening using MUAC, (2) referrals, (3) follow up, (4) Behavior change communication, (5) hygiene promotion, (6) role of caregivers in child nutrition etc. Note: The materials for the training will be adapted/developed in local languages using the WHO/UNICEF guidelines and standards
  3. Prepare clear agenda for 3 days training session, handouts covering key concepts, exercises, and additional resources for participants' reference during and after training.
  4. Design engaging presentations, videos, e-learning modules, or simulations to enhance learning and information retention.
  5. Develop quizzes, tests, or practical exercises to assess participants' understanding and measure training effectiveness in real-world contexts.
  6.  Implement assessment tools for participants before and after training sessions.
  7.  Generate reports summarizing training effectiveness, achievements, areas for improvement, and recommendations for future endeavors.
  8. Outline skills and knowledge acquired by participants to guide ongoing professional development and practical application.
  9.  Produce detailed reports for each training, including individual performance assessments and learning outcomes.

Key Deliverables:

  1. Submit 3 days training agenda and training manuals clearly outlined topics, modules, and learning objectives aligned with above objectives on segmentation of sessions on: (1) screening using MUAC, (2) referrals, (3) follow up, (4) Behavior change communication, (5) hygiene promotion, (6) role of caregivers in child nutrition etc. UNICEF/ WHO guidelines  
  2.  Develop and submit comprehensive handouts and interactive learning materials, presentations for participants, covering key concepts, exercises, and additional resources serving as a reference guide throughout and after the training to facilitate effective learning and information retention.
  3. Deliver 3 days in-person training(s) as per plan schedule and given timeline with all the above-mentioned curriculum/ manuals and learning materials
  4. Submit detailed report for each training, including individual performance assessments and learning outcomes through pre- and post-assessment participants, summarizing the effectiveness of the training, achievements, areas for improvement, and recommendations for future initiatives
  5. Training Action Plans to be prepared by the participants serving as a basis for ongoing professional development and practical application
