Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the female Psychologist will be tasked with offering psychosocial support, counseling, and mental health services to individuals and communities within the purview of the Urban Cohesion Hub in Peshawar. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, providing interventions, and enhancing capacity to tackle mental health challenges and foster overall well-being.
Responsibilities and Main Duties:
• Utilize interviews, direct observation, tests, and various tools/methods to assess patients' needs, abilities, or behaviors comprehensively.
• The candidate is expected to utilize his / her previous knowledge in design and implementation of Community Based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Programs and activities.
• Provide therapy for challenges related to anxiety, depression, addictions, social and interpersonal issues, and a broad spectrum of complex problems.
• Contribute to the community-based rehabilitation of patients by demonstrating psychological approaches in their daily lives.
• Facilitate referrals to specialists or other institutions/organizations for non-counseling treatment when necessary, ensuring patients receive appropriate care.
• Record and monitor patient progress through regular meetings or sessions, maintaining accurate documentation.
• Offer services to individuals of all ages, genders, and religious backgrounds.
• Analyze data such as interview notes and test results to identify symptoms and diagnose clients' problems accurately.
• Provide counseling to individuals, groups, or families, assisting them in understanding their issues, setting goals, and developing realistic action plans.
• Identify and document success stories, best practices, and lessons learned to enhance program effectiveness.
• Conduct awareness-raising sessions and outreach activities within the targeted community to promote mental health awareness.
• Diagnose and evaluate mental and emotional disorders, creating personalized interventions, treatment plans, and therapy methods such as psychotherapy and stress reduction techniques.
Role Requirements:
• Having a Master’s degree in Psychology,
• Professional licensure or certification in mental health counseling or psychology.
• Demonstrated experience of at least 3 years in delivering counseling or mental health support services, preferably within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Profound understanding and practical knowledge of mental health and psychosocial programming within humanitarian contexts is imperative.
• Fluency in Urdu, English and Pashto/Dari is required.
