The Global LEAD - Internal Auditor will be responsible for overseeing the internal audit function, ensuring the integrity, efficiency, and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes across all branches of Muslim Hands. The role involves leading the internal audit team, developing audit strategies, and ensuring compliance with international best practices. The Global LEAD - Internal Auditor will work closely with other department heads to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

1.     Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement the internal audit strategy in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Lead and manage the internal audit team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with the senior management, the Global Operations Development Department, and the trustees.
  • Collaborate with other department leads to integrate audit findings into overall organisational strategies.

2.     Audit Planning and Execution:

  • Develop a comprehensive annual audit plan using a risk-based approach, ensuring coverage of key risk areas.
  • Oversee the execution of audits, including planning, fieldwork, and reporting, ensuring audits are conducted in accordance with international standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of audit findings, recommendations, and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate with the MEAL team to leverage local insights during audits.

3.     Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Assess and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.

4.     Continuous Improvement:

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within the internal audit function.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes, incorporating them into the audit process.
  • Implement innovative audit techniques and tools to enhance audit efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Establish feedback loops to integrate audit findings into continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.

5.     Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations to senior management and the Global Operations Development Department.
  • Provide advisory services to management on governance, risk management, and internal control matters.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the internal audit function and other departments.

6.     Quality Assurance and Reporting:

  • Establish and maintain a quality assurance and improvement program for the internal audit function.
  • Prepare and present periodic reports to the Global Operations Development Department and senior management on the status of audit activities, key findings, and recommendations.
  • Ensure audit documentation and reports are maintained in accordance with professional standards and organizational policies.

7.     Hiring and Training:

  • Oversee the hiring of internal auditors across all countries, ensuring the selection of qualified and competent candidates.
  • Develop and implement training programs for internal auditors, focusing on capacity building and professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of internal auditors, providing feedback and support to enhance their skills and effectiveness.

8.     Qualifications and Experience:

·        Education:

  • CA, ACCA, Masters’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional certification such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), or equivalent.

·        Experience:

  • Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in internal auditing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing internal audit strategies and managing audit teams.
  • Experience in a non-profit or international organization is an advantage.

9.     Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of internal auditing standards, risk management, and internal control frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite.
