JOB PURPOSE

The female member provide primary, preventive, and promotive health services to their community, focusing on maternal, new-born, and child health (MNCH), immunization, and nutrition. They will organize community groups, raise health awareness, ensure timely referrals, and conduct daily home visits to promote healthy practices. The female member will focus on antenatal, postnatal, new-born, and childcare, while the male member will plan and support community outreach and health education for men. They will also distribute basic health supplies and submit monthly progress reports.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The couples provide primary, preventive, promotive and some curative services to the community in their catchment area and cover both regular PHC and humanitarian aspects through:                                                                                      

  • Formulating and organizing women and men groups and health committees and they will be responsible for arranging meetings of these groups to effectively involve them in primary health care with a focus on MNCH, EPI and Nutrition services. 
  • Raising awareness in the communities covering the topics for health, hygiene, nutrition, sanitation, MNCH and PHC emphasizing their benefits towards improved quality of life. Support the communities in establishing linkages between the health facilities and their communities for ensuring timely referrals and treatment.
  • Registering all pregnant/lactating women, newborn, infants, and children under 05 years of age living in their catchment area by using the standard data recording tools. 
  • CHNC visit on average 05-10 household per day, working six days a week to motivate and counsel the communities for adoption and continuation of healthy practices. 
  • Maintain close liaison with influential people of their area including community midwifes, lady health visitors, lady health supervisors, traditional birth attendants, vaccinators, and nutrition assistants for efficient antenatal, natal, postnatal, SBA coverage, routine immunization, and nutrition services. 
  • Disseminating health education messages on individual and community hygiene and sanitation (using the revised counselling “Sehat ki Dastak”), as well as information regarding preventive measure against spread of sexually transmitted infections including HIV & AIDS.                                                                                                           
  • Distribution of basic supplies including ORS, Zinc, iron folic acid and multi micronutrient supplements after completing the treatment.
  • Development and submission of monthly progress reports to the in-charge of the PHC centres containing information regarding all activities carried out by them including home visits, number of patients, referrals etc.

Activities to be conducted by the Female member of the CHNCs are: 

  • Antenatal care, delivery care, post-natal care – ensuring ANC visits, identification of danger signs during pregnancy, referrals for the complicated cases, follow up visits after delivery.
  • Newborn care – counselling for providing thermal and kangaroo mother care to the newborn, early initiation of breastfeeding, administration of birth dose antigens under immunization schedule. 
  • Infant & Childcare – Community based Integrated Management of Newborn Childhood Illnesses (CIMNCI), screening for malnutrition, routine immunization, exclusive breastfeeding & complimentary feeding, education on health & hygiene. 
  • Early Childhood Development and Adolescent Health 

Activities to be conducted by the Male member of the CHNCs are: 

  • Development of plans and support the female member during the visits within the catchment populations and to the nearest health facility. 
  • Organizing sessions with the male participants/adults in the communities on health & hygiene, maternal, newborn child health, routine immunization, nutrition etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Local resident of district Sibi and residing in the same catchment population/village/union council. Preference to be given to the couples with the formal education of 08-10 years. 
  • The only married female will be hired and will be accompanied by her husband 
  • The married female age should be (between 20-40 years of age).
  • Previous relevant experience in the relevant areas would be an asset.
  • Fluency in of local languages (Balochi, Brahvi, Sindhi etc) is required.
