• 1. Ensure effective management of clinical and other ailments at community and facility level 
  • Plan and organize OTP/CMAM activities at designated health and nutrition sites.
  • Work closely with DoH Health staffs to ensure all aspects of the program understood and appropriate referrals take place to and from the CMAM outreach and well-integrated into the Primary Health Care.
  • Work closely with the health facility staff (MO/FMO/LHV), and LHWs to ensure all children are screened correctly at health facility/community facilitation and within targeted area.
  • Ensure all criteria are respected and understood by the team and community groups, including; admission, discharge and transfer to and from the community or other source.
  • Ensure correct clinical diagnosis at the time of anthropometric assessment so that the SAM patient receives appropriate treatment and enrollment-based OTP admission criteria.
  • Timely identification of complications, non-responder, and referrals to the NSC and strong follow up until discharge for re-admission in OTP.
  • Ensure adequate availability of all medical and Therapeutic food supplies and ensure stock is pre-positioned as planned by discussing with Nutrition Officer and logistics.
  • Follow-up and provide feedback to the health facility charge and nutrition coordinator on the amount and quality of the treatment supplies if it does not comply with specified quality standards.
  • Regular and strong coordination with PHC/CMAM, NSC and Outreach staff on referral and integrated case management package.
  • Through liaison with the community groups, provide effective follow up of all cases: particularly tracing of children who are absent from the program, sick children, long stay children, children not gaining weight, and children with social problems etc.
  • Provide key Health and Nutrition education messages to beneficiaries based the protocol and guidelines
  • Respond to inquiries regarding the technical aspects of the program admission and discharge whenever necessary at the CMAM sites.
  • Provide success stories/case studies in the intervention with coordination of Health facility in charge, Nutrition coordinator.
  • Comply with National CMAM Guideline (including Simplified Protocols) strictly for SAM case management.

2. Supervise medicine administration in OTP activities

  • Follow and respect the current protocols especially SAM case management or administration i.e. for de-worming, EPI schedule and MNP, IFA / Vitamin A supplements targeting children and PLW with proper documentation.
  • Ensure that all the nutrition activities linked to health and nutrition education in the protocols
  • Follow the treatment of the beneficiaries through home visits with support of community groups.
  • Participate in the follow-up of stock request and consumption.
  • Achieve ideal MUAC and weight gain for enrolled patients as early as possible.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of the stock distributed through OTP/Outreach activities.
  • Compile the statistical data with MEAL, NIS or Data Officer (admission, default, cured, absent, death) and draft a report on activities with timely submission to the program.

3. Network and coordinate with the relevant sectors

  • Establish good relationship with the relevant stakeholders (DOH/and community)
  • Respond and coordinate properly with Nutrition Coordinator.
  • Establish a network with the other actors in the working area (I/NGO)
  • Establish a good understanding of the program within the community
  • Establish link and meetings with the community leaders and different group existing in the working area.
  • Establish good coordination with caregivers coming to the OTP for service.
