Responsibilities:

  • To ensure administrative and technical supervision, guidance and on job training of team
  • To ensure smooth service deliverance and make accountable yourself and team to beneficiaries
  • To ensure adherence to all the MdM policies including referrals
  • Coordination of all health activities within the clinic in close collaboration with other team members and MOH staff; curative, preventive, health promotion, referral, planning and implementation of training activities.
  • Ensure smooth functioning of 24/7 BEmONC services and support medical supervisor to develop effective duty roster for medical officers, nursing staff, midwives covering 24/7 services on rotational basis.
  • The medical officer will be responsible to attend all admission to Labour room and provide written advise to the Mid wives.
  • The medical officer will keep strict follow up of patients admitted in BEmONC centre.
  • The medical officer will perform normal and assisted vaginal deliveries and evacuation of uterus and will refer patients if needed to CEmONC centre.
  • Will be responsible for neonatal care and refer to pediatrician if necessary.
  • Will be responsible to handle all emergency situation and obstetric complication and timely referral to secondary or tertiary care hospital.
  • Ensure that all protocols and guidelines are followed by team members, including the administrative procedures.
  • To ensure the quality control of medical activities, and evaluate the possible professional hazards in the project site
  • Coordinate with Social mobilizers for implementation health education activities in the field and should also contribute to their capacity building.
  • Be compliant to the immediate changes made by the supervisor during the field activity.
  • FMO should remain as focal point for implementation of MDM rules and regulations on field level and on his team

Consultation and Organization of the activities

  • Ensure that all needed items for the labour room are available and in  functioning status.
  • Prepare and update on a regular basis the lists of drugs, material, furniture and stationeries needed for BEmONC centre in collaboration with the Medical Supervisor
  • Manage and organize the team and its activities according to the onsite need in order to facilitate the provision of services to the target community.
  • Ensure that aseptic techniques are used for all procedures like, delivery, DNC, dressings, injections, inspections and examinations and all minor surgeries like episiotomy, drainage of abscess, etc are carried out under her strict supervision.
  • Ensures that a good standard of cleanness /sanitation is maintained in the work area.
  • Create/update all the forms and documents needed for the BEmONC in collaboration with the Medsup.
  • Collect, analyze and send the weekly data and reports in coordination with Medical Supervisor
  • Provide perinatal care to mother and newborn.
  • Diagnose and treat the pathologies according to protocols in use.
  • Daily checking of vaccine, medicine stock, medicine consumption and medical equipment. Submit daily report to Med Sup
  • Validate medicine consumption sheet on daily basis for every delivery.
  • In charge of the supervision of dispenser, midwives, nursing assistant, support staff and their duties.
  • In charge of the logistics feedback to Base Log/Admin and / if required with approval of Medical Supervisor.
  • Any other additional duty assigned by the supervisor for smooth implementation of the program.

Human Resources Management

  • Report daily on staff attendance of his team as per duty roster to medical supervisor and Base Admin via mobile text or phone call
  • Manage the medical staff, including help recruitment, team building, and appraisals with close coordination of Medical supervisor
  • Identify medical team’s knowledge and skills gaps, inform the Medical Supervisor, and perform skills training, on the job coaching and daily guidance.
  • Check labour notes daily and validate it. In case of any discrepancies explain to midwives and ensure corrections
