We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to support and educate students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will create an inclusive classroom environment, develop tailored educational plans, and implement effective teaching strategies to help each student reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and Planning:

  • Conduct assessments to identify students’ individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, specialists, and other educators.
  • Regularly review and update IEPs based on student progress and changing needs.

Instruction and Support:

  • Design and deliver engaging and adaptive lessons tailored to students’ specific needs.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to facilitate learning.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to reinforce learning objectives.

Behavior Management:

  • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans as needed to support students’ emotional and social development.
  • Foster students’ independence and self-advocacy skills.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and specialists to coordinate services and supports.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and communications.
  • Ensure compliance with special education laws and regulations.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for meetings with parents, school administrators, and outside agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and best practices in inclusive education.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of various learning disabilities and effective teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to engage in activities that require mobility, including standing, walking, and lifting as needed to support students.
