Workplace Programs
Training Department – Trainer (OSH)
The Workplace Programs Trainer (OSH) will serve as a part of the Pakistan Accord Workplace Programs team in Pakistan under the supervision of the Training Manager (OSH), the Chief Complaints Officer, or their assigned person.
The Accord Workplace Programs comprises two inter-related programs: the Accord Safety Training Program; and the Accord Safety Complaints Mechanism. These two programs together implement the worker awareness components of the Accord agreement: the right to refuse unsafe work, joint labour-management Safety Committees, a Safety Training Program, and Complaints Mechanism.
The Pakistan Accord staff Trainer (OSH) shall be based in the Accord office in Karachi. The position requires time to be spent in the field and at the workplace. The Accord staff Trainer (OSH) shall mainly implement the Accord Safety Training Program, but may also contribute to implementation of the Accord Safety Complaints Mechanism.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Programme development and planning
- Contribute to the design and conduct of training needs assessments, as required.
- Assist in the development of the Accord safety training programme and materials.
Training and facilitation
- Liaise with factory management on planning implementation of the Accord safety training programme in assigned factories.
- Ensure the formation of Safety Committees and the election of worker representatives to the Safety Committees at Accord producing factories.
- Deliver Accord safety training for Safety Committee members at assigned factories.
- Provide support to Safety Committee members in conducting the work of the Safety Committee.
- Conduct All-employee Meetings at factories.
- Provide Accord safety training to factory managers, as required.
Information systems and reporting
- Contribute to the development of the Training Department’s management information systems.
- Maintain timely and accurate qualitative and quantitative data of Accord trainings for each assigned factory.
- Produce monthly qualitative and quantitative reports on training and activities for assigned factories.
- Contribute to the preparation of internal and public reports of the Training Department, as required.
Other responsibilities
- Liaise as necessary with Accord Remediation, Complaints, Engineering and other Accord Departments.
- Alert the Accord leadership to any problems or challenges that arise.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Accord leadership.
Qualifications and Skills: Ideal candidates shall have:
- Bachelor's / Master’s Degree in safety and health, environment, social science, or other relevant discipline.
- Safety and health certificates.
- Training of Trainers qualification.
- Fluent written and spoken Urdu.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Experience in conducting training.
- Experience in conducting Training Needs Assessments.
- Experience in training programs evaluation and development of KPIs.
- Knowledge of occupational safety and health.
- Knowledge of the textile and garment sector.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to develop audience-appropriate, effective and visually attractive materials.
- Experience of report writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience of developing/using data management systems.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of desktop publishing software.
- Ability to develop and use spreadsheets.
- Experience of dealing with a diversity of stakeholders including workers, trade unions, employers.
