We are seeking a skilled IT Officer to support the organization's knowledge management efforts, develop data dashboards, and create impactful visualizations. The role involves managing information systems, ensuring data integrity, and leveraging tools to help decision-makers access and interpret key data. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in data analysis, dashboard creation, and knowledge-sharing platforms. The candidate will report to the MEL Manager/nominee and collaborate with other stakeholders to develop and maintain dashboards that support data driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Knowledge Management:

Ensure the efficient organization of digital resources, ensuring data is up-to-date, searchable, and easily accessible by all stakeholders.
Collaborate with departments to streamline information sharing and promote a culture of knowledge sharing across the organization.
Oversee the integration of external data sources into the knowledge management system as needed.
Implement and maintain knowledge management systems to facilitate the capture, sharing, and dissemination of organizational knowledge.

Dashboarding and Visualization:

Design and develop interactive dashboards to present key program data in a clear, user-friendly format.
Create visually appealing user-friendly dashboards that effectively communicate key performance indicators metrics and insights related to monitoring and evaluation.
Maintain and improve existing dashboards by optimizing performance and ensuring data accuracy.
Utilize data analysis tools and visualization software to provide insights for various stakeholders.
Ensuring confidential or sensitive data is handled securely and in accordance with data protection laws.
Maintaining documentation of dashboard development processes, data sources and design choices
Preparation of evidence-based reports to support the dashboard analysis.

Data Integrity and Support:

Ensure data quality and consistency across systems, providing regular audits and updates.
Collaborate with other teams to gather, clean, and organize data for reporting and visualization purposes.
Provide technical support and training to users for knowledge management systems and dashboard tools.

Innovation and Development:

Research and recommend emerging tools and technologies that can improve knowledge management, data visualization, and analytics practices.
Continuously explore opportunities for enhancing the effectiveness of knowledge-sharing platforms and dashboards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in knowledge management, data analysis, and dashboard creation.
Strong proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Kobo Toolbox, Google Studio) and database management.
Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and knowledge-sharing platforms.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Female candidates are preferred.

Preferred Skills:

Expertise in creating visually appealing and use-friendly dashboards including knowledge of dashboard design principles, layout and interactive elements.
Experience of database management system (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) for data retrieval and storage.
Ability to gather data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, APIs and data warehouses and integrate it into dashboards for real time updates.
Knowledge of cloud-based platforms for data management and collaboration (e.g., SharePoint, Google Workspace).

Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) is a leading policy think tank that has been in operation since 1992. Sustainable Development Policy Institute's main responsibility in the mandate is to conduct policy advice and policy oriented research. The other part of the mandate is concerned with the implementation of policies and programs, strengthening the civil society, disseminating research findings and contributing to the building up the national research capacity and infrastructure. Hence, SDPI in its mandate differs from other think tanks, in that it will not only recommend but also help implement.SDPI defines sustainable development as the enhancement of peace, social justice and well-being within and across generations. SDPI produces knowledge that can enhance the capacity of government to make informed policy decisions and to engage civil society on issues of public interest. The Institute acts as both a generator of original research on sustainable development issues and as an information resource for concerned individuals and institutions. SDPI's function is thus two-fold: an advisory role fulfilled through research, policy advice and advocacy; and an enabling role realized through providing other individuals and organizations with resource materials and training. SDPI's research program is multi-disciplinary and problem-oriented. It is an iterative and flexible program that evolves and changes with policy needs, research capacity and interest.
