Eligibility & Benefit Verification Specialist

We are looking to hire an Eligibility and Benefits Verification Specialist as a member of our team, responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and ensuring necessary procedures are covered by an individual's provider. This individual plays a key role in minimizing financial risks for both the organization and the patient.

Primary Responsibilities:

Verification Tasks:

Accurately verify insurance eligibility and benefits information for new and returning patients using various online systems and via telephone calls to insurance carriers.

Data Entry: Enter detailed insurance and benefits information into the patient's electronic health record or company database accurately.

Coordination: Liaise with front office staff, billing teams, and clinicians to update them on coverage details, ensuring a smooth patient experience.

Patient Communication: Inform patients of their insurance benefits, co-payments, deductibles, and any other pertinent insurance details. Address any questions or concerns they might have.

Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate notes of all interactions with insurance carriers and patients.

Problem-Solving: Work with insurance companies to resolve any eligibility or benefits issues that may arise.

Compliance: Ensure all processes are compliant with federal and state regulations and company policies.

Continuous Learning: Stay updated with changing insurance policies, procedures, and regulations.

Reporting: Generate and analyze reports detailing insurance verification activities, discrepancies, and issues. Propose process improvements based on data.

Qualifications:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Previous experience in insurance verification, billing, or a related field preferred.
Proficient in using electronic medical records and other computer systems.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Must be a good team player
