Key Accountabilities

The incumbent will be responsible for quality implementation of Emergency WASH interventions in line with IRP strategy within assigned area, ensure effective service delivery and provision of technical assistance to communities and team in WASH related matters. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform quality & quantity assurance checks by paying regular visits to intervention sites to verify the work is performed in compliance with the plans and specifications especially WASH interventions in emergency operations as per policy.

• Assist fields teams in preparation of basic technical information (cost estimates for both rehabilitation work & initiation of new schemes) related to WASH for development of new project’s proposals at field level.  

• Responsible for management of skilled & unskilled workers (labour, survey team etc), documentation of performance feedback, grievance handling and other day to day affairs where applicable. 

• Processing daily project documentation and construction observations.

• Designing integrated work plans in collaboration with teams from other departments/thematic areas especially in WASH interventions

• In place contingency plan to deal with external factors affecting or may affect the field activities

• Maintenance of record (hard & soft) that includes but not limited to Cost estimates , BoQs, drawings, construction plans, Measurement book, daily field visit reports, material requisition, pictorial progress & other documentation.

• Preparation of daily, weekly, monthly and other progress reports for management’s info.

• Ensure proper filling of forms & formats as per desired standard

• Extend support to MEAL / MIS / Communications staff for gathering desired information.

• Ensure availability of up to date info in MIS on regular basis with consultation of MIS / M&E.

• Close coordination with line manager for effective implementation of project activities.

Organizational (Elaborate the organizational key results areas in detail).

• Ensure compliance with IR’s policies & procedures in true spirit for effective delivery of services to communities.

• In-depth understanding of IR values and their demonstration in the field while working with communities.

• Abide by the IR zero-tolerance policy towards bribery & corruption through sensitization/empowerment of communities on coping mechanisms so that they can raise voices as & when feel inappropriate.

• Thorough knowledge of IR strategic priorities to ensure effective implementation with future sustainability.

• Assist in the identification & documentation of organizational successes for showcasing IR work

• Facilitate communities in the adaptation of environment-friendly & cost-effective approaches to meet their current as well as future needs with specific attention to climate change.

• Strengthen mechanism to Influence the decision makers through communities to pay attention to DRR planning, give voice to suffering and the excluded, highlight the protection needs of people.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with the organizational values & principles, vision and mission as well as commitment to its PSEAH (preventing sexual exploitation abuse and harassment) protocols. IR has a zero-tolerance policy towards PSEAH and don’t support any action that promotes or encourages PSEAH.

Qualification & Experience:

  • 1-2 years of work experience in designing and implementation, maintenance of water and sanitation systems, hygiene promotion in IDPs, refugees or flood effected migrants, , and programs, in a humanitarian setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (B.Tech Civil / B.E Civil / M.E Civil)

Urdu, Sindhi and English

  • Strong emotional intelligence and resilience, and able to maintain self-control in difficult situations.
  • Able to work under extreme conditions in field areas.
  • Good communication skills in local as well as English / Urdu language which delivers information with clarity in a wide range of situations.
  • Has a positive nature and able to overcome issues that create hindrance in achievement of entrusted goals / objectives.
  • Has a learning attitude and a continuous improvement philosophy.
