The Assistant Psychosocial Support Officer leads on “Leave no one behind” and “Do no harm” agenda to be integrated into project interventions and improving the flood affected communities’ psychological resilience and trauma, and ensures commitments towards Core Humanitarian Standards, inclusion Charter and Protection Standards.

Key Accountabilities:

The job holder is accountable for fulfilling his / her roles and responsibilities in line with Islamic values and principles of fairness, humanity, honesty, respect and fair treatment of his/her colleagues and team members.

Technical:

  • Formation of community organization (CO) Committees and subcommittee in the project area as per need.
  • Identification of key psychosocial support practices to be addressed and sectors of the population with whom to engage and develop an appropriate communications strategy to promote safe practices.
  • Identification, or facilitation, of community structures through which the project activities can be implemented.
  • Carrying out assessments in the flood affected areas along with technical team.
  • Ensure Beneficiaries Selection Procedure and understood the criteria.
  • Inform the beneficiaries for distribution/ psychosocial support sessions etc.
  • Fill all the relevant document at the distribution.
  • Resolve conflict among the target community through effective dialogues.
  • Formation of Child and Women groups to establish Child and Woman Friendly Spaces.
  • Organize workshops for staff, community organizations and stakeholders to train on mainstreaming of protection, inclusion and safeguarding in humanitarian action.
  • Conduct orientation sessions with community organization on Safeguarding and its complaint mechanism, and awareness-raising of protection risks and available services.
  • Resolve conflict among the target community through effective dialogues.
  • Proper record keeping of project activities at community & office level both in soft & hard form.
  • Develop case studies to reflect project impacts.
  • Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly work plans.
  • Ensure the timely submission of technical and activities reports.
  • Have to plan and design small tasks as and when required.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Perform any task assigned by supervisor as and when required.

Public Relations / Media

Support the media team in the development of constructive working relationships with media representatives to build international and public profile and ensure positive coverage and the timely provision of situation reports and fundraising material to organization.

Safety and Security

  • Liaise with the district supply chain officer to ensure compliance with organization Security Guidelines and their effective application in the local context;
  • Monitor the operational environment with respect to increased level of threat and advise the PO/SPO/District Coordinator and organization Security Officer/Security Focal person.
  • Follow the appropriate communications means to meet operational and security requirements;

Administration

  • Ensure that administrative support functions are supported in accordance with organization administrative policies and procedures;
  • Ensure compliance with district/area/country legal, contractual, labour and statutory requirements.

Financial Management and Planning

  • Assist PO/SPO in execution of the project financial expenditures, BVA review and reporting
  • Ensure with the finance department, the maintenance of organization financial protocols and accounting systems for all field interventions under the social mobilization components.

Person Specification: It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with the organizational values & principles, vision and mission as well as commitment to its SEAH (sexual exploitation abuse and harassment) protocols. We have zero tolerance policy towards SEAH and doesn’t support any action that promote or encourage SEAH.

Qualification: Graduate, preferably Master / Bachelor Degree holder in Social Sciences or relevant fields.

Experience: Relevant experience of 1 year with Masters / 2 years with Bachelors with NGOs/INGOs.

Language: Sindhi, Urdu, English and local languages
