H Karim Buksh started in 1948, in Lahore Pakistan. The family migrated from India after the partition. Pre partition the late Mr. Haji Karim Buksh was involved in the tailoring business and retailing fabrics in Calcutta & Darjeling India. Our start in Pakistan was also in the cloth and tailoring business. The revenues were comparatively small and the business had a strong personal touch to it. Mainly because it was a small enterprise, the clientele was limited and the clientele required personal attention. Gradually, over a period of 5-8 years, as consumer demand grew, the small enterprise turned into a departmental store. The pioneers of the concept of �shopping under one roof� and, later on, supermarkets in Pakistan.
