Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.V. is one of the major privately-run German charitable organizations in the field of Development Work and Emergency Aid. Its function is primarily to contribute toward the improvement of the food and income levels for the poorest rural population in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, in cooperation with local partner organizations. Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.V. promotes help-for-self-help and is active in emergency and relief efforts. The organization has worked for over a decade in Pakistan and made significant contributions to address the needs of affected populations during the Earthquake disaster in 2005 as well as to communities during the floods of 2010-12 in the provinces of Punjab, KP, and Sindh.

Introduction and Background: Welthungerhilfe is a founding member of SUN – Scaling Up Nutrition’s Civil Society Alliance (CSA) in Pakistan. To push the agenda of ‘Right to Food’ and ‘Nutrition’ in the country, Welthungerhilfe and partner organizations have actively been contributing to the SUN Movement. Welthungerhilfe thus was elected as a member of the executive council in the previous term, while convening the sub-committee of ‘Strategic Planning’ in the alliance.

To effectively contribute to the global SUN agenda, and to improve the influence, liaison, and efficiency of SUN-movement in the country and provinces, Welthungerhilfe is to provide human resource support to the SUN movement in Pakistan.

This position is thus aimed at improving coordination and building liaison, while providing support in ensuring strategic direction, initiatives and governance of SUN in Pakistan. The purpose is to improve influence and engagement of SUN Networks and units, while leading the processes which include, coordination; implementation of initiatives, policy planning advocacy campaigns, supporting administrative tasks, building relationships, networking, and improving performance of networks.

Core Areas of Responsibilities

Technical Inputs

·       In support to SUN-focal point, monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of SUN Networks activities and other initiatives, and prepare regular reports and feedback,

·       Assisting the SUN-Focal point in shaping the strategic direction of the SUN-Networks (SUN-CSA, SBN, SUNAR, Government and UN) and accountability

·       Maintain and update SUN Pakistan’s, including CSA social media platforms, and newsletter, and disseminate relevant information and updates to the members and the public.

Management

·       Coordination and planning of SUN-Networks activities and events, such as advocacy campaigns, capacity-building workshops, media briefings, and stakeholder meetings

·       Provide management and technical support to the SUN-Secretariat in the development/updating of the work plan and implementation for the initiatives with clear objectives and achievement benchmarks, long-term and short-term priorities,

·       Support the SUN-movement Pakistan in strategic direction and governance of the networks

Compliance

·       Manage the administrative work related to SUN-Movement in Pakistan and ensure compliance with donor and organizational policies and procedures,

·       Quality assurance and compliances; for example, contract, donor and SUN unit’s compliances are met.

Coordination

·       Establish and maintain effective relationships with the members of SUN networks and government

·       Ensure technical/sector coordination, briefings, or similar meetings, and provide feedback/ advice to the SUN focal point and backstopping to the networks and SUN units.

·       Build a liaison between national and provincial SUN-units and networks and Welthungerhilfe in Pakistan.

Partnerships

·       Together with SUN-focal point, identify and pursue new opportunities for funding, partnership[OB1] , and collaboration for SUN networks in Pakistan and its members,

·       Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders and counterparts including government stakeholders, UN agencies, international and local players, and other relevant actors working in the country

Others

·       This list of duties and responsibilities is by no means exhaustive, and the post holder may be required to undertake other relevant and appropriate duties as required or directed by the SUN Focal point and WHH. This job description is subject to regular review and appropriate modification.

·       The consultant position undertakes to furnish WHH with periodic updates and reports concerning the developments, findings, and perspectives obtained from their consulting engagement with SUN Movement. The purpose of this communication is to cultivate a learning culture within WHH and support its continuous improvement as a learning organization."

Knowledge and Qualification

·       Bachelor’s degree in public health, Development studies, Nutrition, or related field,

·       At least 3-4 years of experience in project management, coordination, or administration in the field of nutrition, health and/or development,

·       Knowledge of the SUN Movement and its principles, strategies, and frameworks,

·       Knowledge of nutrition situation, nutrition financing, policies, and stakeholders in Pakistan

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal in English and Urdu, Good knowledge of local language(s) would be an added value,

·       Experience in multi-stakeholders meeting management,

·       Understanding of government file system, noting, taking points and presentations,

·       Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with diverse and multi-disciplinary backgrounds,

·       Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with attention to detail and quality.

Computer Skills

·       MS Office [Word, Excel, PowerPoint].

·       Ability to learn any relevant software and tools.
