Truck Dispatcher

The Truck Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the trucking fleet. This includes scheduling and dispatching drivers, managing route assignments, monitoring the status of deliveries, negotiating top rates from brokers, and finding the best possible loads for the trucks. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, and have the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Dispatching and Scheduling:
- Assign routes and load schedules to drivers.
- Ensure timely and efficient dispatching of trucks to meet customer delivery deadlines.
- Adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes in delivery requirements or road conditions.
Communication:
- Serve as the main point of contact between drivers, customers, and the operations team.
- Provide drivers with necessary information regarding routes, schedules, and any changes.
- Address and resolve any issues or emergencies that arise during transportation.
Route Management:
- Plan and optimize routes to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Monitor and track the progress of deliveries using GPS and other tracking systems.
- Ensure drivers follow the planned routes and schedules.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all transportation activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor driver logs and hours of service to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
- Promote and enforce safety protocols among drivers.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, driver logs, and delivery documentation.
- Prepare and submit reports on transportation operations, performance metrics, and incidents.
- Assist in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of drivers.
Customer Service:
- Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Coordinate with customers to schedule delivery appointments and confirm delivery details.
- Strive to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Load Optimization and Rate Negotiation:
- Find and secure the best possible loads for the trucks to maximize revenue.
- Negotiate top rates with brokers and shippers to ensure profitability.
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and load boards to stay informed
