Implement the organization's human resource strategy so that the organization attracts, manages, develops and retains the employees it needs to achieve its current and future business objectives.

Direct a variety of human resource-related programmes to ensure that the organisation's current and future human resource requirements are met and that employees are recruited, managed, organised, trained, evaluated and rewarded in accordance with organisation's human resource strategy. These programmes may include: recruitment; training and development; compensation/remuneration; benefits; performance evaluation; organisational development; relocation; equal employment/affirmative action; human resources administration; human resource information systems; payroll; employee communications; employment/industrial/labour relations. Liaise with functional or operational area managers to assist in personnel planning & cost budgets in line with the organisation's overall human resource strategy. Evaluate the organisation's future workforce needs in order to recommend changes to the organisation's human resource strategy and adapt existing current human resource programmes to meet these needs. Lead, direct, evaluate and develop a team of human resource professionals to ensure that the organisation's human resource strategy is implemented effectively and within established budgets and that the organisation complies with all relevant regulations, laws and employment standards.

To assist in managing a range of HR activities including recruitment, training, organization development, compensation, payroll, and employee relations. May also include administration.

In conjunction with and under the general direction of HR and/or Line Management may develop, manage and/or administer the organisation’s compensation and benefit, organization development, and employee relations programmes. As Generalist operated in and was responsible for more than one of these areas and perform many of the same activities as professionals that specialize in these individual HR functions.
